Cinnamon is healthy

Cinnamon is very healthy.
  • it regulates blood sugar, escpecially in diabetes 2 patients
  • it's anti clotting (blood)
  • it preserves food when added to it. (Like we want to keep the applepie in one piece. LOL!)
  • smelling cinnamon is beneficial for cognitive functioning and memory
  • half a teaspoon every day lowers LDL cholesterol
  • it works against yeast infections which can't be cured otherwise
  • it works on lymphoma and leukemia cells in sich a way that they won't proliferate as well.
  • Disssolve half a teaspoon of cinnamon in a tablespoon of honey and eat this before breakfast each day and arthritis pain will diminish after about a week.

And there are more benefits.

So be sure to have it available in your kitchen and use it often.

diabetes and biscuits

People with diabetes need to eat regular small meals.

When you yourself are a person with irregular eating habits it´s good to know that you´re a good host when you offer a diabetes patient something in between meals.
Keep a package of biscuits ready.

Anti burglary

Ofcoruse people want to feel safe in their own home and want to prevent burglary and other invasions of their privacy.

The police is always willing to give advice on how to make your home as safe as possible.

Ask!

keep a tile in place

Sometimes the glue behind a walltile doesn't work anymore and the tile is on the verge of dropping out.

Use plumbers/isolation tape to keep it in place.

For Dutch voters

June 9th is the date of the elections for a new government in The Netherlands.

A caregivers organisation has put the main plans of different parties regarding care on their site.

Now the debates are not as much about plans, but about who is able to put down others best, a choice based on careplans isn't bad.

Look here.

shining boots

Get good shining boots in about 1 hour.

  1. take paste polish and apply a medium thick layer
  2. allow it to dry for about 5 to 10 minutes
  3. take a cloth or cotton ball without wrinkles and sharp edges, dampen it rather damp/wet and start rubbing until the shine is visible
  4. Apply with the damp ball a thin layer of polish while running circles, until it shines
  5. Keep adding tiny bits of polish in circles and rub until shine.
  6. Then take a dry cloth or pantyhose and go on until you have the shine you want.

prepare your vacation

When you want to have a good vacation this summer it's time to prepare you.
Why?

Because things you need to buy won't be as expensive as they are suring the summer.

Take plastic plates and mugs for instance.
They cost almost nothing now. But watch: when time moves on towards the summervacation they'll al least trice the amount of money.

Bagpags, containers... have a look around now, note the prizes and maybe you're in for a huge surprise.

Cleaning your plastic bathroom mug

Some people have a plastic mug in the bathroom for a quick drink or sip to clean the teeth.

When you keep forgetting to take it with you downstairs to wash it up after dinner, just take a desinfectant cleaning liquid and pour something of it in it.
Let the bottom soak for 15 minutes and then add water and let it stay in it for the night.

Artificial teeth cleaning tablets work well too.

Fun with an union

Take an union and a few matches or cocktailpens.

Pour some water in a glass.

Stick the matches at half the height of the union in the union.

Place the union on the glass resting on the matches.

It shouldn't touch the water but be above it quite near.

Wait and watch, and you'll see the union change into a plant which flowers in the summer.

Free sportactivities

Now the weather has undergone a change for the better the outside sports are promoted again.
That's a good moment to try and get some free lessons as many sportschools offer free lessons these weeks.

Have a look in your local paper and watch the leaflets on the doormat.

finding a present

Sometimes it's difficult to find a present for someone.
Especially when the person is not a friend or family member.

Candles always make a nice gift.

But have you considered buying a towel and some matching accessories, like soap, a comb and such?

Wrap it up nicely and add a flower to the wrap.

It's also a nice welcoming present for someone who stays at your house for the night.

Slicing cucumber

There are plenty of machines that do the job of slicing cucumbers, but all I do is using the cheese slicer.

When you pour a bit of salt over the cucumber it'll taste different.
Some people lobe that.

Baking cake

When you want to bake a cake it´s always necessary to butter the form and pour flower in it. Yes?

No!

Just use baking paper as a lining with the fatfree side to the cake.

Workd great!

Clean pan

Your pan is layered with a black lining of baked food and you think you'll never get it clean again?

Try putting it away for a night with water and a handful of detergent.
You'll see that you can clean the pan without too much effort the next morning.

Silverfish (Lepisma saccharina)

Silverfish (Lepisma saccharina) are annoying.

Put a cottonball with lavender oil at the place they crawl and they're gone.

Cats in the garden

Cats are not always wanted visitors in a garden.

Do they use your garden as a toiletarea?

Throw food where they come and they won't do that anymore.

When you want them out completely, burry mothballs in the garden at places where cat's can't dig them out.
They won't affect the plants and keep the cats out.

Against ivy on walls

Ivy sticks to walls and it's not always desired to have it's grasping claws in your walls and crumble them.

Take a sharp knife and scrape it from the wall in case pulling causes more damage.

Then take water with lots of salt and wasking up liquid and put it to whatever is still against the wall. Soak it as well as you can.

After that you can rub it off with a firm brush.

Against fruitflies

Fruitflies are a nuisance and it's best to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Clean the area where they come with vinegar, and put a cup with water and vinegar at the place they love to come.

They hate that!

Catch woodworm

It's an oldfashioned advice, but in case you're having woodworms you might need it.

Put a few acorns in the furniture where you can hear the woodworm or see the sawdust coming out of a hole.

Woodworms love acorns and will crawl in them.
