During a heatwave you have to drink a lot of water. At least 2 liters during the day.

Some people don't like drinking water, but it's good to use it in a different way.

Have you considered making icecubes with a strawberry in the middle?

sweaty feet

When you're suffering from sweaty feed (and the people around you with you) it's better to take action now it's beautiful weather.

Throw away all shoes with plastic on top or as the sole.

Take the leader ones and spray desinfectant in them.
Let them dry.
Put them away with a leaflet of laundry softener/dryer softener in it.

Wear sandals. Preferably without socks.

sleeping in the summer

We're in the middle of a heatwave and sleeping seems to be an art.

But not with this tip.

Put a few bottles with water in the freezer.

Before going to sleep put them on a deep plate in front of the ventilator.

The air is pushed along the bottles by the ventilator and the cooled air is blown your way.

Be careful with your neck in summer

We're expecting a heatwave for this week, and because of that a memory popped up.

It's about 10 years ago that we were attending a festival in a bright and forceful sun.
We put sunlotion on our faces, shoulders, noses and even the rim of the ears, but I came home with burns....in my neck.

So don't forget to wear either a hat, long hair, a skarf or sunlotion in your neck.

Making simple Jam

To make jam that lasts a long time more ingredients are necessary than for jam which you want to eat immediately.

Jam that can be kept for a few days in the fridge is easy to make.

Take lots of fruit, clean it and boil it with a little water.
When you want to yelly it a bit add apple and red berries.

Consent papers - check them

Do you know which consent papers you have signed?

When you sign one, make a not in your agenda.

Also add on the consent paper a date until which the paper is of value.

Sometimes people fill in a consent paper and this results in use of the paper even years later.

Protect yourself and get in contact with your doctors and have your files checked.

Blind friends can have a good time in a museum too.

Some museums offer special times for the blind. The get special support and are able to touch the objects.

Call a museum and ask for the times they're open for blind people.
When they tell you they're not doing it, ask for an appointment and help them organise a few hours each month for blind people.

To keep your hair healthy it's wise to have a haircut before the water, sun and wind torment the ends.
Freshly cut hair isn't damages as easily as split ends.

To keep your plants in the windowsil happy, clean the window and blind the part that casts the most sun during the hottest part of the day.
It's not elegant, but a paper will do.
Ofcourse you can also use sticky windowdecoration or plantscreens.

An opened fan will do fine for smaller plants and looks decorative too.

find the right electricity wires

Are you one of those people who have lots of electricity wires for your computer, your laptop, your...

Take a long slip of paper, write on it the apparatus the wire belongs to and tape it to the wire, protecting your writing at the same time.

clean silk and fabric artificial flowers

You'd better not use water on silk flowers and flowers made of other fabrik.

Take a bag, add some salt, put the flowers in and shake.

The salt will remove the dust.

Do you know you can soak plastic artificial flowers in water with a bit of detergent?

When you spray them with some water to get the detergent away as well as possible your flowers can dry and look like new.

prevent stains in carpets

When you're having a party or expect visitors vacuum your carpet before they arrive.
Not only will your room look nicer, when stains are made you won't be bothered by the dust and crumbs, which can absorb the stains or worsen them.

A good doormat will clean the soles of the shoes of your visitor.

Cleaning textured materials can be tricky, because the texture might catch fibers from your cleaning cloth.

Use nylon socks or panties.

Take a spray and fill it with plain water.
Add one small drop of peppermint oil.

When you wake up feeling unhappy because of the high temperature, give yourself a spray.

Scratches on glass

Sometimes small scratches on glass can dull the whole surface or make an item look old.

Take a bit of toothpaste on a soft damp cloth and rub at a place of the item that doesn't matter. Like the bottom.
When it works, go to the problem spot. Rub gently to polish the spot.

Be patient and rub on.

Feed your plants

To enjoy your flowers and plants longer you need to feed them regularly.
Some people think plants need only water, but when you feed them properly they will look far better, are more resistant against pests and bugs, and last longer.

Some plants need special fertilizer.

So look it up and treat them well.

Pretzels and chocolate

When you have some chocolate somewhere, maybe even some peanuts, you have the basic ingredients to make your pretzels special.

Melt the chocolate and chop the peanuts to little pieces.
Throw the pretzels in the mixture and stir carefully.

Then put them on non sticky paper and let them dry.

If you can get them dry before they're eaten.

Use the fridge

When you have to make a meal for yourself each time, you probably eat less or always the same.

You can solve this by cooking more for a meal and freezing part if it in small boxes or bags.

Keep track of them, so you can find something when you need it.

Making a meal with several tastes and dishes is easy. Just defrost.

Hollow tree...watch it

When you're having a hollow tree in the garden keep a close watch.
All sorts of bugs might find it a good home, and that's no problem, unless the bugs can harm small children or people in general.

Wasps love trees like that, so be very careful.

Cleaning appliances

Some people forget to clean their kitchen appliances and end up getting a bacterial infection after using them.

Make a bowl with wasking up liquid, vinegar and lots of water.
Dampen a cloth in it and clean the applience. Don't forget the back and bottom parts.
Then dry them.

When you want to buy fruittrees you should do it now or wait until the harvest season is over.

You can buy a small one and keep it in a large pot. That way you can enjoy the fruit without a garden.
