Suddenly the lights went out this evening and I realised how much we take it for granted that I have candles and matches on the livingroom table.We had lights in seconds.

A flashlight, batteries, matches, candles, water, etc etc.
Also keep in mind that you should have a bag somewhere in your house with things you need when you're rushed to hospital.
Sleepwear, tootbrush, a list with the meds you take, your insurance number...
Just a few suggestions.
